Ten Long Running Transfer Sagas and How We Think They’ll End: Including Man United And Liverpool Targets

How we think ten of the longest running transfer sagas will come to an end this summer.

Every summer there is at least one long running transfer saga that usually goes on right up until the transfer window slams shut as soon as the calendar flicks over into September. However, this year there are many, many more. Whether it’s because there has been a World Cup on, or whether clubs are more desperate than ever to inject some fresh blood into their squads it’s hard to say, but below are the ten biggest saga’s that have already ran well over their usual time frame.

The Story: The Reds want to return to raid the Saints for a third time after stealing Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert, but understandably the south coast club are having none of it. Liverpool offered £20m, but the Saints want £25m, a stalemate ensues and Lovren threatens to go on strike.

What will happen: Liverpool will lodge one more bid before turning their attentions to Micah Richards where Brendan Rodgers will realise that his versatility will prove much more useful. Lovren will give an interview saying he never wanted to leave anyway and pen a new contract extension with the look of a man being sent to the chair.
