Arsenal are still believed to be in the running to sign Southampton midfielder and Tottenham Hotspur target Morgan Schneiderlin, according to the Metro.
The Gunners have reportedly held talks with the player himself, and may be in with a chance of snapping him up as he remains keen to leave Southampton this summer, joining the likes of Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Luke Shaw out of the St Mary’s exit door.
The Saints will no doubt be desperate to avoid losing another of their star players, with Arsenal new-boy Calum Chambers another to have left the club this summer, and he may yet be joined by his old team-mate Schneiderlin.
Arsene Wenger has been keen to bring in a new signing in midfield, with Arsenal having recently been linked with the likes of Real Madrid star Sami Khedira and Sporting Lisbon youngster William Carvalho in that position.
Schneiderlin could still be one of the club’s main targets, however, despite the player’s reported desire to link up with his old manager Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane.
Arsenal have been busy in this year’s transfer market, signing big names such as Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy, and it seems their spending may not be over just yet.
