Southampton’s incredible summer of departures could be set to continue, with reports emerging from the Daily Star that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are interested in signing goalkeeper Artur Boruc as back-up for Manuel Neuer.

Ronald Koeman’s new team have already lost Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers in a disastrous summer at St. Mary’s, with rumours continuing to surround the futures of Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez.

The loss of Boruc would come more out of left-field, but would be yet another blow to Koeman as he faces a race against time to build a Southampton team capable of competing when the Premier League kicks off in two weeks’ time.

The Polish former Celtic goalkeeper has enjoyed a reasonably successful spell with the Saints, despite an early incident that saw him fall foul of the club’s supporters, although his departure would be felt less keenly than those of his teammates.

Former Gillingham man Paulo Gazzaniga and the experienced Kelvin Davis are unlikely to be seen as good enough, however, meaning that Koeman would have to add ‘goalkeeper’ to the list of positions that must be strengthened, with Celtic and England man Fraster Forster a possible target.
