Arsenal’s first match at the Emirates Stadium this season turned out to be a superb one for Gunners fans, with young striker Yaya Sanogo bagging four goals in a 5-1 demolition of Portuguese champions Benfica in the Emirates Cup.
Sanogo got the ball rolling when he flicked home a cross from Aaron Ramsey, before Joel Campbell, a player being seen by Arsenal fans for the first time, crisply volleyed home a cross from the impressed Hector Bellerin.
Sanogo made it 4-0 at half time with two neat close range finishes, before again tapping home after the break before his fourth. Nicolas Gaitan’s goal was little consolation for Benfica who endured a miserable afternoon.
