Khedira still has one more year left to run on his current contract in the Spanish capital, and looks to be on his way out of the club either this summer or next.

Contract negotiations between the two parties have broken down with the Champions League winners keen to cash in but Khedira is happy to leave on a free next summer despite being told he will have little more than a symbolic role next season.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is eager to work with the World Cup winner again by bringing him to Stamford Bridge, though he is aware that there is also interest from Arsenal as well as German giants Bayern Munich.

Reports in Spain are now suggesting that Mourinho has made an offer so grand that Khedira is now being forced to rethink his future.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is eager to extract a transfer fee for the former Stuttgart man, who is giving serious consideration to Mourinho’s offer.
