Arsene Wenger has been strongly linked with an interest in the 27 year old for pretty much the entire summer and can now pick up the World Cup winner for a very reasonable £12m fee.
Khedira is into the last year of his Real Madrid contract and is likely to play a limited role in first team affairs this season and as such could be ready for a new challenge.
The tough tackler missed most of last season through injury but returned to help Real Madrid win the Champions League and then played a key role in Germany’s World Cup triumph and is a player who could offer Arsenal a strong presence in the centre of the park.
The former Stuttgart man could act as an ideal replacement for Spanish veteran Mikel Arteta and the presence of national team colleagues Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker may well act as a real pulling point.
