The 27 year old is back on the Gunners radar after captain Mikel Arteta suffered a knee injury and the Real Madrid midfielder will not be at the Bernabeu by next weekend according to this source.
Both Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been linked with the German international but apparently neither side are looking to sign the World Cup winner, leaving the way clear for Arsenal to snap up the tough tackler.
Khedira is likely to be facing a limited role in Carlo Ancelotti’s first team set-up if he does stay at Real Madrid, especially following the signing of Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos.
Space in Real Madrid’s was already at a premium with the likes of Luka Modric, Xabi Alonso and Asier Illarramendi all vying for a starting spot and Kroos’s arrival seems set to lead to Khedira’s imminent exit.
Real Madrid signed Khedira back in July 2010 and he made 144 appearances for the club, winning La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League crowns.
Sami Khedira played a prominent role in Germany’s 2014 World Cup success this summer, starting four of their seven fixtures in Brazil.
