Slaven Bilic pokes the fires before huge Champions League clash in north London…
Arsenal take on Besiktas in this evening’s Champions League qualifying match, and fans of the Gunners can prepare themselves for a tense and nervy evening…
Besiktas boss Slaven Bilic has promised his more illustrious opponents ahead of the tie that his side are not scared, having drawn the opening leg in Turkey, the Daily Mail reports.
The sides drew 0-0, meaning that a win for either of them will guarantee progression into the Champions League Group Stages this evening.
“We have a dream, a hope,” Bilic said.
“It’s more of a plan, though, and we are going to do everything we can to fulfil it. We have prepared our game, our plan. I have big belief in my assistants and they are going to do the job.”
Besiktas are very much second favourites due to the tie being played at the Emirates, but the Gunners have a number of regular players unavailable.
Arguably Arsenal’s best player Aaron Ramsey is suspended, while doubts remain over the fitness of Mikel Arteta and Yaya Sanogo.
Equally as importantly, first-choice striker Olivier Giroud is out until Christmas, meaning £35m summer signing Alexis Sanchez might be asked to start up top on his own as he did away to Everton at the weekend.
