Arsene Wenger will be without French forward Olivier Giroud until the new year which has left the Arsenal boss frantically searching for reinforcements.
The north London club have a long-standing interest in the 23 year old England international and Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal is ready to listen to offers for his services.
Man United want £16m for Welbeck and Arsenal are ready to offer £12m, so given that the two valuations are not oceans apart there is decent chance that a deal could be struck.
Welbeck had his most prolific season to date in 2013/14, netting nine goals from 25 Premier League appearances, a stat that is more impressive when you consider that ten of those appearances came from the bench and the fact that the Man United man has often been used in a wide-attacking role.
Indeed Welbeck’s versatility could well be one of the motivating factors for Wenger’s imminent bid.
