Nigel de Jong £10m
The AC Milan would provide some bite to the Man United midfield and protection for his back-line and de Jong’s previous Man City affiliation is unlikely to be a concern to Louis van Gaal.
The lack of an out and out defensive midfield presence led David Moyes to use Marouane Fellaini in a holding role, a move that backfired in a big way, and de Jong is perhaps the ideal man to fill such a role.
The 29 year old is hugely experienced, a player van Gaal knows well, a dependable cost effective option to consider.
