Former Madrid team-mate to talk to Ronaldo.Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria could be set to play a pivotal role in the club’s bid to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid next summer, according to the Daily Express.
The Argentine only just left Real for United this summer in a £59.7m move, but may now prove an important purchase for his role off the pitch as well as on it, as he could hold talks with Ronaldo over his proposed Old Trafford return.
The 29-year-old is thought to be unsettled at the Bernabeu at the moment, with United competing with Chelsea and Manchester City in a bid to sign him for next season.
The Red Devils will now hope that the presence of his old team-mate Di Maria at United can prove enough to convince him to re-join the club, instead of moving to one of their fierce rivals.
Di Maria and Ronaldo struck up a good partnership at the Bernabeu and are also friends off the pitch, so the 26-year-old could have some sway in where his old colleague will choose to play his football next.
Manager Louis van Gaal is thought to be confident that a deal can be done, in what would be a sensational coup in the transfer market.
