La Liga giants speak out on recent shock rumours.Barcelona have responded to recent rumours linking Lionel Messi with a move to Chelsea, insisting that they are not considering letting their star player go, according to Sky Sports.
The Argentine attacker was the subject of a shock £118m bid from Chelsea during the summer, according to recent reports, and it has even been suggested that the Blues could move for him again in the near future.
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also mentioned as potential suitors for the 27-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of the finest players to ever play the game, and certainly the best of the modern era.
However, Barcelona insist that he is perfectly happy with life at the Nou Camp, and that they are not considering selling the player anytime soon, with the transfer window closed and any signings off the current agenda anyway.
Barca did allow some big names such as Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez to leave this summer, but it does seem unlikely that a big name such as Messi would be allowed to leave while he is still anywhere near his peak.
Speaking about recent speculation, club president Josep Maria Bartomeu said: “The window is now closed and nobody is talking about new signings any more.
“The possibility of Messi moving keeps coming up, but we haven’t considered it.
“He’s very happy here and we’ll have Messi for many years. I hope he’ll retire at our club.”
