Jamie Carragher believes David Silva is among the best foreign Premier League players…
He might have played with Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres, and played against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry, but Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Manchester City midfielder David Silva is among the best foreign Premier League players of all time.
Speaking in the Daily Mail, the former defender expressed his belief that Silva has the best awareness in world football, and added that the Spanish maestro is is ‘two or three levels above’ Juan Mata and Santi Cazorla.
Silva has played a key role in City’s success in recent years, which has included two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup over the last four years. He impressed again on Saturday as he starred in his side’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa, playing a part in both the goals scored by Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero.
“One player you would love to watch, no matter who you support- it would be him,” Carragher said of Silva.
“Couple of other Spaniards like him – (Santi) Cazorla and (Juan) Mata – he’s two or three levels above them. You never see him get tackled, you can’t get near him. His awareness is the best in world football, (Andres) Iniesta and Xavi are the nearest level to him. He’s something special.”
