Emirates Stadium side’s biggest signing on Allianz Arena wish-list.
Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil was reportedly the subject of a summer bid from Bayern Munich according to El Confidencial.
The 25 year old has come in for a fair amount of criticism of late and is yet to come close to justifying the club record £42.5m fee Arsenal paid Real Madrid his services in the summer of 2013 so one wonders just what sort of offer Allianz Arena boss Pep Guardiola made.
The Bundesliga giants may have opted to turn to Ozil following the sale of Toni Kroos to Real Madrid and perhaps the former Werder Bremen man would have been tempted by a return to his native Germany.
This source outlined Wenger’s apparent decision to ‘pass’ on the chance to re-sign Cesc Fabregas, with the Spaniard going on perform wonderfully well at Chelsea and therefore heap more misery and pressure on Ozil.
Ozil’s return of 16 assists and eight goals in 51 appearances is by no means woeful but Wenger would certainly have expected more from the World Cup winner.
