Arsenal are desperate to seal the signing of this long-term target…
Arsenal stars Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker are still desperate to convince their international teammate Sami Khedira to join the club from Real Madrid.
The German World Cup winner was linked with a move to the Gunners throughout the summer, but a move failed to materialise. However, reports in the Metro claim that a deal is still a distinct possibility.
They explain that Khedira could be about to turn down a move to Chelsea to join Arsenal instead, after holding talks with the Gunners’ German contingent.
Khedira has reportedly been holding negotiations with both Arsenal and Chelsea as he closes in on a £10m January exit from Real Madrid, with his departure from the European Champions sealed by his refusal to sign a new contract.
The source also claims that Arsenal have already agreed terms on a five-year deal with the 27-year-old, but have not sorted out a fee with Madrid, who are desperate to garner as large a fee as possible despite the player having just six months left on his current deal.
