Revealed: Desperate Tottenham Offered Top Scorer In Exchange For Arsenal Target

See which star midfielder Spurs were willing to do anything for…

The Daily Mail have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur offered Nacer Chadli as part of the deal to bring Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin to White Hart Lane in the summer.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was desperate to link up with his former charge at his new club, and was willing to let Belgian winger Chadli go as part of the deal.

But the Saints stood their ground after losing Calum Chambers, Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert.

Schneiderlin was furious at the time, but has knuckled down since and has been outstanding as the club have rocketed up the Premier League table into second place.

Tottenham meanwhile are having a torrid time, and will be thankful that they didn’t get rid of Chadli, who is their top scorer and whose form is one of the few positive features of their season so far.

French international Schneiderlin still looks like he may be on his way out of St Mary’s.

He has said he will hold out on signing a new deal until the end of the season, suggesting that his decision will depend on whether Saints make it into the Champions League.

Unfortunately for Spurs, another season of great performances may well mean that they will be priced out of a move for the midfielder next summer, with teams like Arsenal now joining the chase, even if they were to try and throw in Chadli again.
