The Italian side appear keen on pouncing on Cech’s uncertain situation at Stamford Bridge, with the experienced Czech Republic shot stopper falling behind promising youngster Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order this season.

Despite a long and great career with the Blues, the 32-year-old may now have to leave the club for regular first-team football, and it is thought that Jose Mourinho could be open to letting the player go, even to a rival Premier League club.

Arsenal have emerged as surprise suitors for Cech’s signature as January approaches, and it may be that he will be allowed to make the move to the Emirates Stadium, though Roma also want to compete for this top class purchase.

Rudi Garcia’s side currently have 38-year-old Morgan De Sanctis as their number one, and it is clear that the veteran Italian keeper will need replacing before long, with Cech surely the ideal candidate if he is made available.

Cech has made 475 appearances for Chelsea, winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League.
