The Frenchman trained on Tuesday morning in what will be a huge boost to manager Arsene Wenger. The North London club had been having to play Nacho Monreal as an emergency centre-back in recent games.

The 29-year-old had been out for the last two months with an Achilles injury, and this has coincided with the Gunners having a poor run of form. They will be hoping that now they can stop playing a left-back in the middle of their defence, their form will improve.

While this is good news for Gooners, they are some bad tidings from the training session. None of Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and Wojciech Szczesny joined in with the team. The final two are expected to miss the match after suffering injuries in Arsenal’s loss to Manchester United on Saturday.

Not as much is known about Welbeck’s situation as yet, but Arsene Wenger should clear up the Gunners’ fitness issues in his afternoon press conference. Walcott’s return from a ACL injury has been delayed after a minor groin strain, so will miss out.
