The German is unhappy at current club Bayern Munich because of the lack of first team action he has received this season. He nearly left in the summer for the same reason, but was persuaded by manager Pep Guardiola to stay at the Bundesliga champions for a while longer. However, now the problem has persisted he is ready to depart.
In a separate story, Blick suggest Shaqiri could move to Manchester United or Liverpool.
The playmaker would be a great addition to either side, as shown by his impressive form in the most recent World Cup, and could provide a real boost for the second half of the season.
The Old Trafford club could be favourites for the Swiss international’s signature ahead of the Reds due to their much higher chances of qualification for next year’s Champions League at the moment in the Premier League.
However, Blick state Liverpool bid 24m CHF (£15.7m) in the summer, but the offer was rejected before Shaqiri was made available for sale. The Reds’ clear financial muscle could yet push a deal through.
