The North London club managed to come away with a 2-1 victory in their match against the Hammers, but they had a few chances to make sure of the win before the final whistle which they weren’t able to take. Goalkeeper Adrian had a great game keeping out numerous opportunities.
This led to Arsene Wenger’s side having to withstand heavy pressure in the final stages of the match as Sam Allardyce had his team bombard the Arsenal box with high balls following a goal that brought them within one of the Gunners. The England international is unhappy that they had to go through that, but was still happy that he managed to get on the scoresheet.
“I think we had a couple of opportunities [to seal the win]. I had one and a couple of the other players had opportunities to finish the game off earlier, so we’re a bit disappointed with that,” he told the club website.
“[Adrian] made some good saves, but the main thing is that we got the three points. I was pleased to get the goal and I’m looking to score many more goals. If I get the opportunity, I’ll try to put them in the back of the net, so I’m a bit disappointed with the one in the second half as well,” he added.
Arsenal next travel to Southampton to take on the team which held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw on Sunday. If they win they will overtake the South Coast club in the race for the top four.
