The 21 year old German international has long been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium but Schalke’s interest in centre-back Matija Nastasic could help Manuel Pellegrini in his pursuit of the young midfielder.

Man City want £10m for Serbian defender Nastasic but will look to come up with a compromise deal that sees Draxler move to the Etihad Stadium.

Draxler has struggled with injuries over the past 18 months but is arguably still one of the hottest prospects in European football and was Joachim Low’s 2014 World Cup winning squad.

Though Draxler has spent a long time out with injuries the playmaker, who can also play out on the wing, has still racked up over 150 appearances for Schalke and could well be for a fresh challenge having represented the Gelsenkirchen side since the age of eight.
