Both English sides have been courting the young Germany international for some time now as they look to add more creative flair to their attacking positions.
Recent reports had suggested United and Arsenal had been given an unexpected boost, with Schalke boss Roberto Di Matteo lining up Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle as his replacement.
However, despite the recent rumours, the club have denied that they will be entertaining any offers to jettison the player.
“We have absolutely no thoughts about him leaving on short notice,” Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies said.
“Schalke is the place where he can develop best and I told him that in person.
“My opinion is also, that Julian has developed greatly, especially regarding his personality.
“He had a setback with his injury and, as with every big player at a young age, he had a weaker period. But Julian will have a fantastic career.”
