The story was always going to be about Steven Gerrard this evening as he played his first game for Liverpool since announcing his decision to leave the club at the end of the season – and the former England man was the best player on the pitch as the Reds beat AFC Wimbledon, with Gerrard scoring twice – including from a sublime free kick.
