Barcelona star Lionel Messi is not needed at Real Madrid, according to Iker Casillas…
Real Madrid veteran Iker Casillas claims his side don’t need FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi, and wouldn’t sign him even if he did leave the Nou Camp, according to ESPN.
Messi is currently the subject of a huge amount of transfer speculation, with a number of issues at Barcelona leading to rumours that the Argentine is planning his exit strategy.
Chelsea and Manchester City have been linked with a move for the diminutive forward, with the pair among a handful of clubs who may actually be able to afford him.
Madrid would certainly be one of those clubs, but do not need the 27-year-old according to Casillas.
“Would I sign Messi for Real Madrid? No. At the moment, with the players we have, we are doing very well and achieving great things,” he said.
There have been a number of high profile transfers between the two clubs, with Luis Figo the most notable of them all.
The fee involved in any deal for Messi would be astronomical however, and with Financial Fair Play in place we are unlikely to see him moving any time soon.
