The Gunners have been sounded out over the possibility of bidding for the French forward, who is also a top target for Crystal Palace this month as he wants to move for more first-team football.

With Wilfried Bony likely heading to Manchester City, this departure would represent another major blow for Garry Monk’s side after such a strong start to the season.

Still, Gomis wants to be allowed the chance to talk to Arsenal as he has ambitions of playing for a bigger club, though it could still be that he will leave Swansea for Crystal Palace if the Gunners do not make an approach.

Arsene Wenger already has the likes of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck to choose from upfront this season, so may not feel Gomis is a priority as he looks instead to strengthen in midfield and defence.
