The 23-year-old has been a peripheral figure in Rudi Garcia’s side, and he is said to be frustrated at his level of involvement having started just one in their previous six.

The Premier League duo are known to be interested in signing Destro, and considering his contract has just 18-months remaining – could snap him up for a reduced fee.

However, they could face some serious competition from fellow Serie A giants AC Milan, who are also looking to bring in some fresh talent up front.

“Am I like the sixth man in basketball?” he said.

“It’s better to be in the first five. I like the comparison, but honestly my ambition is to be among the starters.

“The only thing that doesn’t change is my commitment to give the best in every minute I play.

“At 23, you shouldn’t be considered a youngster, but it must be said it’s difficult for young players.

“And there’s something that should make us think – if a young player has a certain level of ability they go abroad.”
