Former Arsenal star Thierry Henry has explained his belief that David Silva is Man City’s star man…
There is certainly plenty of competition in the race to be labelled Manchester City’s best player. But according to former Arsenal star Thierry Henry, the Premier League champions’ star man is David Silva.
The Spanish midfielder got the vote of the new Sky Sports pundit, ahead of teammates Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany, with Henry revealing that he would have loved to have played alongside the former Valencia man.
According to the 37-year-old, Silva’s ability to create goals as well as score them, edge him ahead of the excellent Aguero, who has struck 19 goals in all competitions so far this season.
Silva, 29, who joined City in 2010, has scored 36 times in 200 games for the club, guiding them to two Premier League titles, as well as an FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield.
Speaking ahead of the meeting between Arsenal and City at the Etihad Stadium today, Henry said of Silva: “He for me is the best Manchester City player by a distance. I may shock people when I say that but he always wants to go forward and he wants the ball all the time.
“I would have loved to have played with him. He’s always trying to be in that middle pocket. He will make his team play better. What I like about Silva is that he scored goals when Aguero was out. You could see him playing for Barcelona.”
