The French international, who has been linked with a £6m move to the Gunners this January in a recent report by the Daily Express, has spoken about his displeasure at spending so much time on the bench since his summer move to the Welsh club from Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Lyon.

The 29-year-old has shown glimpses of real promise when given a chance for the Swans, but it now looks as though he will try to move clubs this month in order to ensure he is playing regularly.

Other Premier League sides have shown an interest in Gomis, but it is not yet clear if he will be allowed to leave as Garry Monk’s side would be well short of options up front after already agreeing to sell Wilfried Bony to Manchester City.

“When Bony was here, it was planned that I should play a certain number of games. That wasn’t the case,” Gomis said.

“Today, I ask myself many questions. I need time to think.

“At my age, it’s very difficult to accept to spend my time on the bench.”

The timing of Gomis’ comments are slightly strange, given he started the match against Chelsea on Saturday in the absence of Bony, but Swans boss Monk may have to reassure the Frenchman if he is to retain his services beyond January.
