The 24-year-old has impressed Arsene Wenger with his fine performances in La Liga, and it is claimed that a deal could happen this month, with Villarreal open to a swap deal involving out-of-favour Gunners forward Joel Campbell.

The Spanish side are one of a number of clubs interested in the Costa Rican, who has been unable to break into the team this season and could make way as Wenger makes a signing in defence his priority.
