There could be some arrivals at Old Trafford…
Respected Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has revealed that Manchester United have had a bid of €35 million rejected for Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi.
The defender had been thought to be a target for the Gunners, but it now seems that their Premier League rivals have got involved in the race for his signature. The Argentine was only bought by the La Liga club last February, making his debut at the beginning of this season after being sent out on loan for a while following his signature.
It was the 26-year-old’s headed goal that ended Real Madrid’s twenty two game winning streak earlier this month, but it is likely that the English sides are more interested in his defensive capabilities. He has been part of a Valencia back line that has only conceded seventeen times in nineteen matches in the Spanish League.
Although he was not part of the Argentina squad that got to the final of the World Cup, Otamendi has managed to play eighteen times for his country, scoring once. Check out the tweet below that linked him to Manchester United.
