He’s going to the Bernabeu…
Arsenal are set to miss out on Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva to Real Madrid, reports the Daily Mail.
The Brazilian is highly rated by Arsene Wenger, but it seems that Los Blancos have swooped for the player before the Gunners could react.
Madrid are interested in the 21-year-old as a replacement for Xabi Alonso – who left for Bayern Munich in the summer.
The South American has made 33 appearances for Cruzeiro this season, and is a key player for the side. His performances in the Brazilian league are part of why he has been targeted for a move to Europe.
This will be a big miss for the North London club as Silva is a defensive midfielder – which is a key area in which they need strengthening. T
he club have recently signed Krystian Bielik who can play there, but at 17-years-old it is unlikely that he will be able to make an impact on the first team anytime soon.
