The Manchester United legend thinks Arsene Wenger has a talent on his hands…
Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes that Arsenal youngster Hector Bellerin is ‘massively impressive’.
The 19-year-old scored his first senior goal against Aston Villa on Sunday and also impressed when he started against Manchester City in the fixture before.
The right-back’s form has meant that the Gunners have not missed the injured Mathieu Debuchy as much as some feared they would.
“The one that stood out most for me having watched him come back into the team against Manchester City and see him at close hand [against Villa] was Bellerin the full back,” Neville was quoted by the Daily Mail.
“He was thrust into the team in September [at Borussia Dortmund] and he really struggled. He looked like it was too early for him.”
A former defender himself, Neville thinks that the Spaniard’s pace is a big factor in why he is able to perform well on the biggest stage. The full-back is apparently quicker than both Theo Walcott and Thierry Henry in the North London club’s behind the scenes testing.
“He got put back into another big game against Manchester City and he was massively impressive. The first thing is – has he got speed? I was told he beat not only Walcott’s record but Henry’s record for over 40 metres,” Neville continued.
“He’s lightning quick. That gives you a great chance as a full back.”
Bellerin will next play against his side’s fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur. He will be hoping to win not just for the fans’ pride, but also to stay ahead of Spurs in the race to finish in the Champions League qualification places.
