Arsenal record goalscorer Thierry Henry was full of praise for Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe on Sunday, after the teenager starred in a 2-0 win at Southampton.
Ibe, 19, was deployed as a wing-back on Liverpool’s right flank.
His pace, energy and tactical discipline impressed Henry, who was working as a pundit for Sky Sports.
Henry is quoted by the Daily Star as saying: “It was an amazing performance.
“It wasn’t the step overs and nutmegs, but he showed maturity in a game like that at an early age, it’s his maturity to understand the game.
“The way he was tucking in to show he can cover his back three and the midfielders, he never gave up.
“He worked hard for his team-mates and that’s how you gain the respect of team-mates. That is why he is playing for Liverpool.”
Liverpool are unbeaten in all six games that Ibe has played in since he returned from a loan spell at Derby County.
While at Derby, he bagged five goals in 20 Championship matches.
