Arsenal are said to be keen on a deal for £17.2 million rated Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan.
The Metro reports that the Serie A giants are prepared to sell the 20-year-old at the end of the season as they realise they could secure a sizeable windfall if they find the right buyer, this crucial to the club given their recent Financial Fair Play troubles.
Kovacic is said to be one of the best young midfielders in Europe with Real Madrid also scouting him with an eye for a deal, however, no interest has yet materialised into a concrete move.
The report says Everton have already failed with a bid just shy of £15m but if this was increased to around £17.2m the Italian giants may agree to do business.
There have been comparisons between Kovacic and former Arsenal stalwart Cesc Fabregas and has scored five and assisted one so far this season.
