The Czech Republic shot-stopper has been benched by Jose Mourinho this season in favour of young Belgian ace Thibaut Courtois, who returned to Stamford Bridge after a highly impressive three-year loan stint at Atletico Madrid.

It seems likely that Cech will not be happy to remain as a substitute after a long and distinguished career with Chelsea, for whom he has established himself as one of the best in the world in his position.

Arsenal were thought to be readying a £10m bid for his services this summer, but the Daily Telegraph now claims that they are unlikely to succeed in raiding their rivals for such a quality player, as they would not want to strengthen the Gunners and their possible push for the title next season.
