Alexis Sanchez has admitted he was surprised at the quality of the Arsenal squad when he moved from Barcelona to Arsenal in the summer, according to The Daily Star.
The Chilean star had lit up La Liga for the Catalan giants the previous three seasons, notching 47 goals – 21 of which came in his final season, and has proved a hit in the Premier League, looking like he has all the attributes to flourish.
Upon his arrival at the Emirates Stadium, Sanchez claims he was taken aback by the quality of the standard of players at the club, despite their European pedigree.
He said, “When I arrived at the club I didn’t know the players that well, but I was really surprised by everyone’s quality.
“I am not saying this just because it’s my obligation to do it as a club player. Every Arsenal footballer has amazing quality. Being part of a team like this makes me very proud. I am willing to win many titles here.”
The Chilean also praised the impact Santi Cazorla has had on the midfield of Arsenal this season, having previously played in the same division when the Spaniard was with Villarreal.
Sanchez has gone on to emulate the total of goals he scored last season, with 21 and will hope to surpass that figure with six games to go in the Premier League and an FA Cup final still to come.
