Sneijder has long been linked as a top target for the Red Devils, who would reportedly face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for his signature in the next transfer window.
The 30-year-old is seemingly keen on moving back to a bigger European club after a spell in Turkey, having previously shone at Inter Milan as part of their 2009/10 treble-winning team.
However, it remains to be seen if the Dutchman is still capable of performing at his best, with United really in need of a world class midfielder playing at his peak.
Van Gaal’s side have been linked with a whole host of big names in that position, though the Daily Telegraph reports that Sneijder could still be one of the club’s targets once again ahead of next season.
