The text in the tweet translates as “Gundogan has decided not to renew his contract” – which will no doubt enhance speculation that he is closing in on a summer move to Manchester United.
Reports on ESPN earlier this week suggested that the Red Devils did not have an agreement in place with the German international, though it now looks as though the 24-year-old is edging nearer to leaving the club, adding substance to the rumours that he may be Old Trafford-bound.
United certainly need a midfielder of his calibre for next season, with players such as Ander Herrera and Daley Blind both having mixed campaigns in the Premier League this year, while Michael Carrick has struggled with injuries.
