The Daily Mail reports that the England international, who has been plagued by fitness problems all season, is to visit Dr Peter Asnis, who is connected to the Boston Red Sox franchise.

It comes just four months after the former Chelsea star’s last USA visit, when he sought help to overcome a persistent thigh ailment.

Sturridge has managed only 18 appearances this term, scoring on five occasions, and he has not featured for the Reds since their 1-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup on April 8.

He has been sorely-missed by his out-of-form team-mates, who have not scored in the last two games. Brendan Rodgers’ men will end the season without a piece of silverware and are also almost certain to miss out on Champions League qualification, as they are languishing in fifth position in the Premier League table.
