Arsenal have made a deal with Chile to make sure that Alexis Sanchez is free to play in the FA Cup final, reports the Daily Star.
The winger was in danger of missing the showpiece event because he was meant to link up with his national team ahead of the Copa America. Arsene Wenger has now agreed with his opposite number Jorge Sampaoli that the 26-year-old can turn up late to take part in the Wembley fixture.
However, the former Barcelona player could still miss the beginning of next season if Chile go far in the competition. The final is scheduled to be played on July 4, around a month before the 2015/16 Premier League season is expected to start.
This is actually nine days earlier than the World Cup final was last season, and Mesut Ozil who played in that was still able to play for the North London club right from the start of their subsequent campaign.
Wenger said on the issue: “We’ve got an agreement they won’t call him up for the [FA Cup] final. But the Copa America is not good news because they finish very late. If they go very far he will miss the start of the season.”
