Man Utd legend says a Gareth Bale Chelsea transfer could bring spell of dominance
The Welshman has struggled in his second season at the Bernabeu, after playing a part in their Copa Del Rey and Champions League triumphs in his debut campaign. This time round he has been targeted by fans for selfish behaviour on the pitch, and being accused of acting to the detriment of star player Cristiano Ronaldo.
Even so the 25-year-old has scored 13 goals in 30 La Liga appearances, which isn’t a terrible return considering he is expected to play second fiddle to his Portuguese two time Ballon d’Or winning teammate. The former Tottenham man has also created another nine goals for his teammates in the league.
This has resulted in the winger getting annoyed at supporters who are still booing and whistling him on occasions. This could be good news for Manchester United and Chelsea, who are both interested in bringing the forward back to the Premier League in the coming transfer window.
Barnett said: “I spoke to him on Thursday and while he’s obviously p***** off things aren’t going well he is desperate to get out there again. Give him more of the ball and let him show everybody what he’s good at.
“He’s going to be the best player at Real Madrid when his teammates work with him and help him. Hopefully Real will come to terms with this.”
