The French forward only joined Atletico last summer from La Liga rivals Real Sociedad, but his 22 league goals this season has alerted a host of clubs in Europe with the Blues the most likely to pounce and are thought to be weighing up a £43.5million offer once the transfer window opens.

Diego Simeone’s side are fully aware of the interest in Griezmann and it was revealed last week in The Guardian that the club were planning to offer the France international a new contract with an increased buy-out clause in an attempt to avoid doing business with the West London outfit once again.

It was only last year that Diego Costa and Felipe Luis swapped the Vicente Calderon for Stamford Bridge, and Jose Mourinho is keen to boost his attacking options ahead of next season he prepares his side for a battle to retain their league title and to challenge in Europe.
