Maradona, a former Boca Juniors player, strongly criticised the recent FIFA elections in which Blatter was re-elected for the fifth time. Maradona said this would not be considered acceptable in any democratic country, “but for some reason this seems right to FIFA. We have a lifetime dictator.”

The Argentine superstar called Blatter the ‘Ice man’ as he said he lacks inspiration and passion, two of the main things that are at the heart of football. In the recent interview with the media, Maradona compared Blatter with a mafia leader, saying he has only been able to get support due to favours and commitments he has with some people.

Maradona made a comparison with other sports, saying that football was the only sport that in recent years has gained a bad press for big corruption scandals.
