The former Liverpool boss is being tipped as the favourite to take over from Carlo Ancelotti, who was given his marching orders at the conclusion of the season last weekend.
And the 55-year-old has vowed to Florentino Perez that he will get the best out of the Welshman, just like he did with Fernando Torres when he was at Chelsea.
Angry Madrid fans vented their frustrations at Bale for his performances this term that saw Real finish second to arch-rivals Barcelona as well as slump to a defeat to Juventus in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
But Benitez has told Perez that Bale will continue to play a key role under him and will even outlast Cristiano Ronaldo as a fan favourite after the 30-year-old has departed.
