Liverpool winger linked with shock Benfica return transfer

The Italy international has just come off the back of an injury hit campaign where he only played 19 times for the Rossoneri. In that time the 22-year-old still scored three goals and assisted another three. However, in general the youngster has struggled to live up to the potential he showed in the 2012/13 season.

Two years ago the forward had just finished a campaign with an undeniably impressive 16 goals in 37 Serie A games, all when he was just 20-years-old. However, injuries have since held him back, and a move to new club may be just what is needed to reignite what is currently a stalling career.

Manuel El Shaarawy, who represents the winger, insists that the player is happy at the San Siro, but still seems open to any offers that come in.

He said: “He’s happy at Milan. Let’s see what happens with the team this summer, the transfer campaign seems a bit different from recent years. A move for El Shaarawy? There have been several teams interested, Stephan is a player who lots of teams like.

“There were several offers, both in January and now in the summer, offers which we looked at. We can’t rule anything out, the transfer market is always the transfer market.”

So a move could be possible. Whether the Premier League trio want to sign a player who would definitely be a risk is another matter though.
