As reported by Record, Cavani, made the geography mistake in a recent interview, referring to Jamaican players as Africans when discussing their chances.

“National teams are very difficult because they have the best players in the country. Because they are an African team as we all know they will have a very good physical condition – that is a priority for them,” said Cavani.

After all the criticism Cavani received on social media, he decided to apologise for what he said was a mistake.  He offered an apology via Twitter saying: “First I want to apologise to Jamaica and their people. In my mind I made a comparison between the styles …”

Uruguay and Jamaica are in Group B of the Copa America along with Argentina and Paraguay.
