Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be keen on spending around £15m on signing Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko this summer, according to The Sun.

The Gunners could do with more options up front next season after unconvincing campaigns from the likes of Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck, though some fans will question whether Dzeko is really the ideal target for that role.

The Bosnian international only managed four Premier League goals in 2014/15, and only made 22 appearances after falling out of favour in Manuel Pellegrini’s first-team plans.

With City signing Wilfried Bony from Swansea City back in January, it looks as though the Chilean was sending the message that Dzeko was not good enough to be starting regularly, and his goals record for the season would back that up.

And yet, The Sun adds that City themselves value the 29-year-old at closer to £20m, which may put off Wenger from entering the running for his signature this summer.

Still, Dzeko has shown his quality down the years, scoring 26 goals in 2013/14 as the club won the Premier League title, and showing particularly fine form towards the end of the season in the absence of injured star Sergio Aguero.

Recent reports from the Daily Star add that Chelsea are considering a move for the former Wolfsburg man as well this summer, though Liverpool have seemingly cooled their interest in snapping him up.

The Sun, however, still claims a potential swap deal involving Dzeko and Raheem Sterling could be possible before the end of the transfer window.
