The Toffees star has developed into a top-class defender since joining the Merseysiders from Irish club Sligo Rovers in 2009, and has since become the club’s undisputed first-choice right-back.

With Everton failing to qualify for Europe after a disappointing campaign last year, Coleman could possibly be considering his options and a switch to Old Trafford with the allure of Champions League football next season could prove too hard to resist for the 26-year-old.

It’s no secret that United boss Louis van Gaal is keen to bolster his options at right-back after being forced to play Antonio Valencia in that position for large parts of last season as Brazilian defender Rafael struggled with numerous injuries.

The Dutchman has already seen two transfer targets slip from his grasp over the last month as Barcelona defender Dani Alves, who was heavily linked a move to England [via Metro Sport] eventually shunned interest from the Red Devils to sign a new deal with the Catalan giants [via Mail Sport].

This has left Coleman has the only real logical option, although United are likely to have to part with at least £15 million for the Republic of Ireland international as he signed a new deal with the Merseyside outfit only last summer [via BBC Sport].

United’s transfer plans look to be getting into full swing as they are understood to be closing in on a deal for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to TalkSPORT, who say the transfer should be done before the end of the week.

However, in what could be the biggest transfer of the summer, Sky Sports revealed that a bid for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos was launched on Monday evening and that would represent a fantastic deal for van Gaal and the club, who will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
