Manchester United plan to raid Bayern Munich once again, as striker Robert Lewandowski has been identified as manager Louis van Gaal’s next transfer target, Telegraph Sport reports.
The Red Devils have already completed one signing from the Bundesliga champions as Bastian Schweinsteiger’s move to Old Trafford was officially announced via the club’s official Twitter account on Monday afternoon.

United manager Louis van Gaal has been busy in the transfer market in the last few days following the signings of Matteo Darmian [via BBC Sport] from Serie A outfit Torino and French international Morgan Schneiderlin [via BBC Sport], and it appears the Dutchman is keen to strengthen his squad further ahead of the new season.
Reinforcements in defensive and attacking areas are expected before the transfer window slams shut on September 1. The latest name to be linked with a move to Old Trafford is Lewandowski – who is widely regarded as one the best strikers in European football.
A move for the Polish international could certainly position United as a firm favourite for the Premier League title next season, as the 26-year-old has proved during his time in Germany that he is lethal in front of goal.
Last season he scored 25 goals in 43 games in all competitions for Bayern, and demonstrated his qualities with a superb strike in the Champions League second leg tie against Barcelona:
Prizing the Pole away from the Allianz Arena is likely to prove difficult, as manager Pep Guardiola would surely be against selling another key player to the 20-times champions of England.

In that event, van Gaal would have to switch his transfer targets, and could re-ignite his interest in Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, who is also attracting interest from fierce rivals Liverpool [via Metro Sport].
The Belgian international has a £32.5million release clause in his contract, and Telegraph Sport claimed over the weekend that a big-money offer was being prepared by the Red Devils.
One other notable striker that has been linked with a switch to United this summer is Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani, and reports in Guardian Sport claim that Argentine winger Angel Di Maria could be used in a potential swap deal.
