Ashley Young hails Manchester United’s opening day victory over Tottenham

Manchester United winger Ashley Young has taken to social media and reacted to his side’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on the opening day of the new Barclays Premier League season.

Spurs defender Kyle Walker scored the only goal of the game in the first half as he turned the ball into his own net as he attempted to dispossess Wayne Rooney in the penalty area, but could only end up wrong-footing Michel Vorm and cost his team at least a point.

Young, who signed a brand new contract with the Red Devils earlier in the week, was named in the starting XI for the game against the North London outfit at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime, but didn’t quite reach top form much like the majority of his teammates.

However, it’s often said that the opening day of the season is more about the result rather than the performance and the 30-year-old echoed those thoughts via his official Twitter account following the game.
